Day 1
Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut
- Start at Momella Gate, the entrance to Arusha National Park.
- Register with park authorities and begin the trek.
- Hike through the lower slopes of the mountain, passing through different vegetation zones.
- Reach Miriakamba Hut, situated at an elevation of around 2,514 meters (8,245 feet).
- Overnight stay at Miriakamba Hut.
Day 2
Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
- Continue the ascent through the alpine meadows and moorland.
- Reach Saddle Hut, located at approximately 3,570 meters (11,712 feet).
- This day involves a steeper climb compared to the first day.
- Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
- Overnight stay at Saddle Hut.
Day 3
Summit Day – Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak and Descent
- Begin the summit attempt early in the morning, usually around midnight.
- Ascend to Socialist Peak (Uhuru Peak), the summit of Mount Meru, at an altitude of about 4,566 meters (14,980 feet).
- Witness the sunrise from the summit, providing breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding area.
- Descend back to Saddle Hut for a rest and then continue to Miriakamba Hut.
- Finally, descend to Momella Gate.
- Complete the trek and sign out with the park authorities.
