MANYARA NATIONAL PARK (120KM (2hrs) FROM ARUSHA CITY)
Early Morning about (7:30). Morning Transfer by Road. Lake Manyara National Park,
located in northern Tanzania, is renowned for its stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife,
and variety of ecosystems. The park, covering an area of approximately 330 square
kilometers, features a soda lake (Lake Manyara), dense forests, and grassy plains. It’s an
excellent destination for a day trip, offering a rich experience for nature lovers and
wildlife enthusiasts. Manyara is particularly famous for its tree-climbing lions and large
flocks of flamingos. Take a guided game drive around the forests and along the lakeshore
of Lake Manyara National Park, and look for elephants and tree-climbing lions, all in the
company. Where the plains of northern Tanzania meet the Rift Valley escarpment, Lake
Manyara is a wonderful place to spend a safari day. Your highlights for the day might
include getting up-close-and-personal with the elephants that made this park famous, lots
of baboons, as well as one of few lion populations in Africa that spend much of their time
in the trees. Between the forests at the foot of the escarpment and the lake that gives the
park its name, enjoy rich birdlife and the chance of seeing predator ambush their prey. As

When to Visit

The dry season (from June to October) is the best time to visit Lake Manyara for
wildlife sightings, as animals gather around the limited water sources. However, bird
watching is excellent during the wet season (November to April), when migratory
birds and flamingos flock to the park.

Claudia N2025-03-25Verified Two weeks adventure It was a great Safari Tour with our guide Matey. We have seen a lot of animals: lions, Zebra, Elefant, Giraffe, Gnu, Cheetah and many more. The lodges and Camps were nice and the staff was great. We were nine days ob Safari with one Stopp in mto wa mbo, a little town on the way. Finally we went to Sansibar and had also a great time. jin m2025-03-11Verified One Safari, in Tanzania. It's been almost a week since I came back from Tanzania Safari and I've been reminiscing about the process. In the jacuzzi that can rise to the top, we enter the homes of wild animals, bumpy dirt roads with flying dust, probably because their country has strict natural environmental protection requirements and no road modifications, but it does not have any garbage.Nelson, our guide and driver, is energetic and chatty, mimicking the calls of a variety of animals and telling us animal fun stories, such as why spotted hyenas soak themselves in water. He can already speak the Chinese names of many animals, he is highly motivated to learn Chinese along the way, and we have a great English teacher on our team, so we communicate relatively smoothly.Nelson felt it was unlikely that most of us would go to Tanzania to see wildlife again, so he tried to get us to see as many animals as possible, especially the African Penta. Their walkie-talkies were constantly exchanging messages, and rare large animals rushed over.Elephants are still relatively common and can be seen from a distance or up close, as they slowly pass by our cars. Several times I saw the fat leopard lying down on the tree to sleep, and one day I saw a prey hanging from a branch next to the leopard, which the guide said was tired and had to rest for a while before eating. The cheetahs by the bush seemed so used to being watched by multiple cars and people that one time a cheetah was seen watching vigilantly around, guarding his freshly caught prey, occasionally hunkering down for a few bites, and from a distance saw a spotted hyena approaching, which we all feared for a while. Even, fortunately, we saw the scene of four lionesses working together in the grass to hunt wildebeest from afar, but most of the males we saw were daydreaming. As for elegant giraffes, pretty zebras, delicate gazelles, flocks of flamingos, etc., it's still easier to see. I also saw a large herd of wildebeests running around, like "migration," and I was a little dense-phobic. The trees over there are also quite characteristic, like an umbrella, and often you can see a few large trunks that no one can get around, as well as tall cactus trees, and baobab and sausage trees with lots and lots of big fruit.Thank you to our leader for deciding to book Gardenia African Safaris Travel after much more careful selection, and there was a sense in contact that this was a team that wanted to do better. Boss Matey is more shy, not much to talk to when we meet, but will give the leader WeChat a phone call every day, any needs will be met as much as possible, and will seek our advice and suggestions. I'm sure in this team atmosphere, all the tour guides in the travel agency will be nice.We don't understand the local language, but two words, we shouldn't forget, because we can hear them everywhere. "jambo" is "hello," it's "hello"; "hakunamatata," it's familiar. Yeah, by the way, it's in "The Lion King," it's "no problem," it's "no problem."I'm glad I finally overcame the hesitation to participate in this safari and enjoy the whole process, an experience that was absolutely unique to me.Remarks:There's a five-hour time difference. The guide's working hours are eight hours (nine hours if lunch is added). Mats K2025-03-10Verified Unfortunately experience Our guide Matey was absolutely amazing, very on time, very polite and super nice. He was well educated on the animals and plants but also on the culture of his home country. We saw every animal imaginable, and as a hobby photographer i was very pleased with Mateys positioning of the car, constantly giving us the best view on the animals. All in all an unforgettable experience, thank you Matey Hanne K2025-03-09Verified First time doing a safari and the best experience! This safari was amazing! We saw all the best sites and even got the opportunity to see the BIG FIVE!! It was great seeing the different landscapes and so many animals in their natural habitat. Our guide (Matey) was amazing as he took us to all the best spots to see so many different animals (from zebras to hippos and many many gazelles). He taught us a lot about the animals but also the flora and environment. We also learned about the local culture, which was really interesting. martin K2025-03-09Verified The perfect guide for Tansania safari Matey is a very knowledgeable guide. He took very good care of us and when we had ideas outside of the planned schedule he did everything to make it happen. But at the same time he was calm and was not intrusive. We felt like part of the family. Mathias Fiedler2024-11-19Verified Perfectly Organized Safari Adventure Gardenia African Safaris crafted a perfectly tailored itinerary for our family.
