3 DAY MOUNT MERU TREKKING

Day 1: Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

  • Start at Momella Gate, the entrance to Arusha National Park.
  • Register with park authorities and begin the trek.
  • Hike through the lower slopes of the mountain, passing through different vegetation zones.
  • Reach Miriakamba Hut, situated at an elevation of around 2,514 meters (8,245 feet).
  • Overnight stay at Miriakamba Hut.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

  • Continue the ascent through the alpine meadows and moorland.
  • Reach Saddle Hut, located at approximately 3,570 meters (11,712 feet).
  • This day involves a steeper climb compared to the first day.
  • Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
  • Overnight stay at Saddle Hut.

Day 3: Summit Day – Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak and Descent

  • Descend back to Saddle Hut for a rest and then continue to Miriakamba Hut.
  • Finally, descend to Momella Gate.
